Greece Olympics

Team 7B recreated their own version of the Greek Olympics, dividing its students into 5 teams: Athens, Kavala (Bronze), Marathon (Silver), Olympia, and Sparta(Gold).  The five teams competed in a variety of events incorporating all subject areas (explained in detail below).  It was a fun day!

* English Component: 7B was divided into 5 teams.  Each team chose a city to represent for the games.  Each team (during SAT instruction) composed a fight song/chant to be showcased during opening ceremonies.  Events: Dictionary Race and Tongue Twisters
*  Social Studies Component: A flag/banner was created by each team during Great Time, including symbols of Greece, their specific region and other facts they’ve learned during their Greece Unit.   Event: Art Recognition
* Math Component:  Students found averages of scores for various events. Events: Math Race, Box Guess, M & M guess
* Science Component:  There were many measuring components incorporated into the different events.  Events: Mass Race & Paper Airplanes Distance Competition
* Physical Education Events: Shot Put Cotton, Putt-Putt Golf, Long Jump, Standing High Jump, etc.

TEAMWORK: Canned Food Drive

From December 1st right up until the very last second on December 14th at 9 AM, Team 7B students were rallying each other to donate cans and spare change.  We are so proud of how the kids came together to donate 1,929 cans.  Thank-you for your cash/check donations and letting your child raid your kitchen cabinets for a worthy cause.  All donations were given to the Salvation Army.  Your student will be rewarded for their outstanding efforts on Wednesday, December 21st (the last day before Winter Break).
