Reading Rewards!
51 students on the team met the early-bird ROOTb (Reading Outside of the Box) reading goal for the year! They were treated to a pizza lunch for putting reading and literacy at the top of their to-do list! We hope to reach 100% turnout for the official ROOtb deadline which is Tuesday, May 15th. Congratulations, Cortney!
Cortney was honored and chosen out of 80 submissions across the state of Nebraska as one of four top writers of poetry in the grade 6-8 division of the Nebraska Writing Project's "Poetry of Place" competition. Cortney celebrated her accomplishment by reading her poem, "Silence in My Apartment" in the Warner Chamber at the State Capitol in Lincoln today with other accomplished student and adult poets from all over the state. Great job, Cortney!

Slam Poetry Writers' Workshop
A huge thank-you goes out to the Nebraska Writers Collective for working with our students today! We thoroughly enjoyed our one-day workshop of creative writing, working with accomplished poets right here in Nebraska, and sharing our original work with our peers! A fabulous day!
